Pretty Funny exists because at some point I realized I didn’t have a single thing that was just mine anymore. I was a mom, a responsible adult, a functioning human… but not really a person in the way I used to be. And it was honestly sad in that quiet way—like, “everything is fine,” but I still feel weirdly empty.

So I did what any emotionally stable millennial would do: I opened a code editor and tried to time travel back to 2006. Back to the MySpace era—when I could spend three hours perfecting a layout, slap a glitter graphic on it, and feel like I just launched a tech startup.

If you remember AIM away messages that were basically vagueposting before vagueposting had a name, you’re my people. If you ever risked LimeWire like it was a sport, you’re my people. If you watched TRL like it was a civic duty, had a folder of “icons,” and lived through the side-bangs economy… you’re my people.

Also, I’m sorry in advance: you just lost The Game. I don’t make the rules, I just bring the 2006 internet trauma back for the vibes.

This site is funny on purpose, a little self-deprecating by design, and sincere underneath it. Life has felt heavy lately—like, collectively. And when everything turns into survival mode, you forget you’re allowed to have joy that isn’t “productive.”
